With much anticipation, a staggering number of over 6.3 lakh students actively participated in the commencement of the class 10 board examinations in Andhra Pradesh on Monday. Providing insights into the examination proceedings, S Suresh Kumar, Commissioner of the School Education department, revealed that out of the total 6.54 lakh registered candidates, 23,920 were reported absent on the first day of the SSC exams, slated from March 18 to 30. Adding to the comprehensive overview, Praveen Prakash, principal secretary of the School Education department, shared with PTI that these examinations are being conducted across a vast network of 3,473 centers, all meticulously equipped with the essential amenities.
This extensive setup includes a total of 30,234 examination rooms, ensuring ample space for the students registered for the board exams to comfortably undertake their assessments. Furthermore, the department has undertaken pioneering initiatives to promote inclusivity and accessibility in education. Notably, audio question papers have been introduced for visually impaired students, marking a significant milestone as Andhra Pradesh becomes the first state in the country to implement this on a pilot basis. Currently, this innovative measure is benefiting 12 specially-abled students, reflecting the state’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity and equal opportunities in education.
