As many as 1400 schools across the country will soon engage in projects in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) conceived by the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in collaboration with leading industry players.
Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, flagged off a number of these initiatives at the inaugural WAVES (World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit) WAVES 2025 being held in Mumbai.
From industry internships and scholarships, collaboration with over 1400 schools,startup funding, rendering parks and game designs, various initiatives were launched by Minister Vaishnaw today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated WAVES at the JIO complex Bandra owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani who was present with son Anant, and movie stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rajinikanth.
“India can take global leadership in media and entertainment” , Vaishnavi today said adding that he was pleased to note in his WAVES interactions that “industry consensus is to wholeheartedly participate in M & E projects across the country.”
Top global players which have signed Letters of Intent (LOIs) and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) include Google, Apple, Microsoft, Meta, Adobe, NVIDIA, and Star India, among others.
