Bengal: CBI conducts raid at Kolkata firm in TET scam probe

July 10, 2024

CBI officials conducted a search at the office of a Kolkata-based private company on Tuesday as part of their investigation into alleged irregularities in a school recruitment scam. The raid, which included computer and cyber experts, targeted the company’s office in southern Kolkata to retrieve Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheets used in the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) for 2014.

An official stated, “We sought specific documents like OMR sheets during today’s operation. Several documents were seized, but we cannot disclose further details at this time due to the ongoing nature of our investigation.”

Recently, the Calcutta High Court instructed the CBI to locate and recover original or destroyed servers, discs, or other media containing scanned OMR sheets from the TET 2014. The court also directed the agency to seek assistance from expert organizations to ascertain whether current servers, hard discs, and computers associated with M/s. S Basu Roy and Co., a firm purportedly involved in outsourcing TET processes, or the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE), retain any digital records of the scanned OMR sheets.

The CBI’s search operation was carried out during the day at the premises of M/s. S Basu Roy and Co.
