Billabong High International School, Noida hosted its annual science exhibition MatriX-2022 virtually on February 4 and 5, 2022 based on the theme ‘Life on Land and Underwater- Harnessing the power of nature to heal’, focussing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15 which highlight Life Below Water and Life on Land respectively.
The objective of the exhibition was to empower the learners by rendering them a platform to inculcate problem solving, decision making, critical and creative thinking skills as well as be digitally equipped with the interconnected and evolving world, thus empowering them to become 21st century ready.
The exhibition also aimed at inculcating in our learners, the future citizens, a shared sense of responsibility towards forming a healthy and harmonious bond with nature and environment and promoting a just and empathetic society by accepting that the earth is a place of close relationships- the plants, animals, minerals and humans are important to each other and together constitute an integrated whole.
The Director of the school, Jasmine Gandhi, encouraged and motivated the learners to move towards being eco-saviours. The principal of the school, Sharmila Chatterjee also inspired the learners to shoulder the taking care of the Nature and all its constituents. The event saw different clubs coming up with various games, activities, presentations, models, skits etc. based on the theme and also on various contemporary issues and advancements.
The event witnessed great zeal and enthusiasm amongst learners as came up with research projects, innovations and creations. While some presentations focussed on finding sustainable alternatives, others gave a strong message on how it is a collaborative responsibility of the entire humankind to take care of our nature.
Quoting on the exhibition, Sharmila Chatterjee, Principal, BHIS, Noida said “An explorative, inquisitive & curious mind will only lead to future discoveries and unfold multiple opportunities of learning & empowering.”
The exhbition also had projects which focussed on waste management and novel ideas of creating green spaces through DIYs. The learners also expressed their views towards protecting mother earth with various renditions through art, music, dance and drama. The exhibition focussed on igniting the minds of the learners with creativity and imagination and building confidence in them which was quite evident by their endeavours.
