The School of Law, BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero initiative, is hosting the third edition of their flagship event ‘Law Conclave.’ This year’s conclave themed ‘Regulating Artificial Intelligence: Issues and Options’, will see participation from law firms, think tanks, industry bodies, technology start-ups, prominent academics and policy makers.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has proven to be beneficial in various sectors such as healthcare, finance, governance, agriculture, and management, but like any new age technology, AI comes with its share of risks and concerns. Given that the legal framework for regulating AI is still nascent, the Law Conclave will highlight issues and concerns regarding deploying AI. Some of the notable panelists include, Atul Tripathi (Principal Data Scientist Cyber Security, Tech Mahindra), Raj Shekhar (Lead, Responsible AI, NASSCOM), Mr. Rohan K. George, Partner, Samvad Partners, Dr. Sarayu Natarajan, Aapti Institute, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Krishnaswamy (Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University), Dr. Avik Sarkar (Visiting Associate Professor, Data, Technology & Public Policy, Indian School of Business).
Speaking about the significance of the conclave, Prof. Pritam Baruah, Dean, School of Law, BMU, said “We are delighted to announce this year’s law conclave on regulating Artificial Intelligence. The conclave continues the school’s sustained engagement with live challenges posed by evolving technology. By bringing together entrepreneurs working with AI on the same table as lawyers, policy makers, and researchers we aim to develop insights that should guide the complex question of regulating AI led innovations. Balancing the benefits of AI-led technology with risks that it poses is a question being debated across the world, and we must design frameworks that are sensitive to our context.”
