The decision of CBSE Board Examinations which was supposed to be announced today has been apparently put on hold. The Education Ministry is unlikely to announce a decision today on the fate of Class 12 Board examinations to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The Union Government will wait for the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter.
The Ministry on April 14 had announced that the Class 12 exams would be postponed and said that it will review the situation on June 1 and share details subsequently. The Class 10 Board exams has already been cancelled owing to the second wave of the pandemic.
Earlier on Monday, the Union government had announced that the Apex Court will take the decision within the next two days regarding the CBSE class 12 Board exams amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Representing the government, Attorney General KK Venugopal told this to a bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari which had asked the Centre to give tangible reasons if they decide to depart from the last year’s policy, wherein the remaining board exams were cancelled due to the outbreak of deadly coronavirus. On April 14, the CBSE had announced the cancellation of class 10 exams and postponement of class 12 exams in view of the surge in coronavirus cases.
