Centurion University, Odisha, hosted the third edition of the AIU National Women Student Parliament to mark the centenary celebrations of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The event brought together over 200 young women leaders from more than 30 universities across India, offering them a platform to share ideas, engage in dialogue, and shape the future of leadership in the country.
The Parliament was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Kumbhampati Haribabu, Governor of Odisha, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. He highlighted the pivotal role women have played in India’s development—from contributing to the Constitution to leading in corporate boardrooms and courts of law. “Equality, empowerment, and emancipation are not just ideals—they are lived experiences for many Indian women today,” he said. “Let your voice transform the future of the nation. Student elections pave the way for tomorrow’s leaders.”
Prof. Sangram Keshari Swain, Convener of AIU, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of such events in encouraging collaborative, inclusive, and informed student leadership. Dr. Supriya Pattanayak, Vice-Chancellor of Centurion University, stated that empowerment is not just about protest but about preparing young women to lead with knowledge, purpose, and vision.
Adding to the depth of the session, Dr. Mamata Rani Agarwal, Additional Secretary of AIU and a former Air Force pilot, delivered a compelling address. She spoke about the value of informed participation in democracy and urged young women to lead with confidence. “Democracy is not just about raising your voice—it’s about knowing what you stand for,” she said.
Several other dignitaries also shared their vision during the event. Dr. G.S.N. Raju, Chancellor of Centurion University, spoke about promoting gender inclusivity in leadership. Dr. Gitanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor of Berhampur University, spoke of a future India where women contribute equally across all sectors. Dr. Amiya Kumar Rath, Vice-Chancellor of Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Odisha, emphasized that true national progress cannot be achieved without the upliftment of women.
The event was further supported by Dr. Muktikanta Mishra, President of Centurion University, and Prof. D.N. Rao, Vice President. Dr. Anita Patra, Registrar of Centurion University, concluded the session with a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of all participants, dignitaries, and organizers.
