Chhattisgarh School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal has called upon the Central Government to establish Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in every district of the state. This appeal was made during a meeting between Agrawal and Union Cabinet Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, in New Delhi.
In the meeting, Agrawal highlighted that while Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas have received approval in 16 out of the 33 districts in Chhattisgarh, he urged Pradhan to extend this approval to the remaining districts. The state’s public relations department issued a statement conveying Agrawal’s request for an increased allocation from the Centre in government-sponsored schemes related to education and skill development.
Agrawal emphasized that the current share in Union government-run schemes like Samagra Shiksha, PM SHRI Yojana, and Mid-Day Meal is 40% for the Centre and 60% for the state. He sought a revision in the Centre’s contribution to these programs during the meeting.
Furthermore, Agrawal presented specific funding requests, urging the Centre to allocate Rs 2,606 lakh for the Laika Sanwar Yojana under the Samagra Shiksha scheme and Rs 110.86 lakh under the Right to Education Act. Additionally, he appealed for the reopening of the Pradhan Mantri Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM USHA) portal for Chhattisgarh, a program designed to provide financial support to eligible state higher educational institutions.
Agrawal underlined the importance of increased financial allocations in central government schemes aimed at enhancing higher education and implementing the provisions of the National Education Policy 2020. Minister Pradhan responded positively to these proposals, assuring a favorable consideration of the state minister’s requests.
