The programmes in User Experience (UX/ UI) teach how to design digital products that provide relevant user experiences. It is about understanding the needs of the users, creating a product roadmap based on these needs and then implementing the principles of UX Design so that one gets an easy to use and simple product.

Moreover, the demand for UX designers is steadily increasing. This can be proven by the fact that LinkedIn ranked UX design as one of the top 5 in demand skills as of 2020 while Glassdoor added it to their list of best 50 jobs to have in 2021.

Keeping true to its words to stay attentive to the latest trends in the design industry, Chitkara Design School also offers B.Des in Animation. This specialised course will help the student create characters, tell their stories, as well as design, paint, model, texture, animate, light, composite and edit films. One will develop his/ her artistic and storytelling ability, technical skills, software knowledge, and learn about special effects. The students will be taught how to combine essential technical skills with conceptually original ideas that effect the audience emotionally, visually and intellectually.

Moreover, employment of special effects artists and animators is projected to grow from 2019 to 2029 due to the increased demand for animation and visual effects in video games, movies, and television. Some career options that can be opted for after the completion of this degree are: Graphic Designer, Visualizer, Video Editor/Cinematographer, Multimedia Artist, Digital Artist, Web Graphic Designer, Storyboard Artist, Motion Graphics Design and much more.

The curriculum of Chitkara’s Fashion Design programme prepares the student to become a designer with creative vision who is capable to make his/her place in this challenging industry. Moreover, the students are also offered the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or entire year at leading European and Asian Design Schools.

The programme encompasses the conceptual aspects of Fashion Illustration and Computer Design along with the skills of Draping, Pattern Making, and Garment Construction. Students can specialise in varied areas such as art, intimate apparel, children’s wear, sportswear, and evening wear, along with Accessory Design and Fashion Merchandise. They also master computer[1]aided design (CAD) and learn how to take a design from concept to a finished product.

This course opens up various career options, such as: apparel production manager, fashion show organiser, cutting assistant, fabric buyer, costume designer, entrepreneur, fabric quality control manager… and the list is endless. The B. Des in Product Design programme is concerned primarily with the relationship between products, systems and those who use them. The demand for product designers is increasing with each passing day as there is a huge shortage for skillful product designers in the market.

Chitkara’s programme lays emphasis on process-centric approach which shapes a student’s education through participation and teamwork. A student engages in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative design process that involves research, observation, modelling, prototyping, and evaluation. The course introduces current production and manufacturing processes as well explores new mediums and methods for creating thoughtful and responsible design solutions.

Any candidate seeking a job as a Product Designer can choose from the several sectors and industries available as per his/ her requirements and inclination. Some jobs directly related to this degree include: CAD technician, Clothing/textile technologist, colour technologist, Exhibition designer, Furniture designer, Interior and spatial designer and Product designer.

Another interdisciplinary course has been offered to students to equip them to take on the challenges of the design industry. B.Des in Visual Communication is a specialised programme where the student can specialise in Graphic Design and Advertising. This course enables him to acquire the skills and techniques necessary to pursue a fulfilling career in the various areas of the Advertising, Print and Graphic Design industry and progressive knowledge of design.

One can enter the corporate world with this degree and opt for the following careers: Corporate Communications, Environmental Design (the design of signs and sign systems), Information Design, Exhibition Design for trade shows and museums, Film / Television Graphics, Interactive Design for Websites, Video Games, and Computer Displays; Package Design; Logo, Identity, and Brand Design; Retail Design, and many more.
