The move provides students with a single window opportunity to apply for the 1.8 lakh undergrad seats available at the 45 central universities for the academic year 2022-23.

The NTA and the UGC will not conduct common counselling for UG admissions. Instead, counselling will be conducted by the respective university which will draw up its individual merit lists based on the CUET 2022 scores provided by the NTA. Each university has been allowed to set their own eligibility criteria for admissions which students will have to meet.

The computer-based, objective exam will be based on the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus.
