September 13, 2023

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi announced the allocation of funds exceeding Rs 4 crore for teaching and learning materials to benefit 1,531 schools under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). This marks the first instance of such funding being provided to MCD-operated schools, according to a statement from her office.

The statement highlighted the efforts of the AAP government in enhancing the education system within MCD schools, aiming to elevate it to world-class standards. These improvements are happening in tandem with school infrastructure development.

The mayor stated that more than Rs 4 crore has been disbursed for teaching and learning materials across 1,531 MCD schools. This funding, released by the AAP-led MCD, will be utilized for procuring stationery items and making photocopies of evaluation papers and assignments for the academic session 2023-24.

The allocated amount will benefit 8.16 lakh students in classes I to V within MCD schools, with funds distributed based on the number of students. Additionally, this funding will cover expenses related to co-curricular activities held on Wednesdays. Zonal Deputy Directors of Education (DDEs) and Assistant Directors of Education (ADEs) will be able to access this funding in advance through Zonal Deputy Chief Accounts Officers (DCAs) and Accounts Officers (AOs).
