Governor Assam can become a higher education hub

Assam has the potential to evolve into a hub of higher education with the right initiatives, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya said on Thursday.

Following a meeting with state education minister Ranoj Pegu, the governor lauded the Education Department’s efforts to strengthen the academic ecosystem and implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The discussion focused on the state’s roadmap for academic reform, including curriculum restructuring aligned with multidisciplinary learning, faculty development, and digital enablement. Officials said the meeting highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering quality, inclusivity, and global competitiveness in education.

“With the right kind of initiatives, the state can evolve into a hub of higher education,” Acharya reiterated.

He also stressed the importance of building a robust academic ecosystem that empowers students, supports educators, and enhances Assam’s position on the national and global education landscape.
