Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has called upon all stakeholders to collaborate in transforming Assam into a role model state for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He emphasized that the NEP is designed to champion the cause of India’s rich knowledge system and heritage.
Speaking at a conclave on NEP-20 implementation, Governor Kataria highlighted the importance of implementing the NEP’s provisions comprehensively to accelerate India’s progress. He commended the initiation of NEP implementation in Assam and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for his support and contributions to the state’s education system.
Governor Kataria emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions and faculty members in advancing the quality of education. He encouraged faculty members to be highly motivated in implementing NEP 2020 and called for uniformity in its implementation across the state by university vice-chancellors.
Furthermore, Governor Kataria suggested the creation of flexibility for students to transfer between institutions within the state through an ‘Academic Bank of Credits.’ He underscored the importance of giving due recognition to merit while focusing on the holistic development of the education system.
During the conclave, universities and institutions in the state presented their progress in implementing NEP, providing insights into the status of its implementation.
