Govt of Ireland announces Education in Ireland virtual showcase for higher education

February 9, 2021

Despite the global pandemic in the last year, international education has proved to be surprisingly resilient to the challenges of Covid-19. While a significant number of students did not give up on their dreams to study abroad, Ireland with a careful and cautious approach to Covid-19 demonstrated how Irish institutions have prioritized the physical and mental health of students, ensuring the highest standards of education to sustain the aspirations of international students.

Barry O’Driscoll, Regional Manager, India & South Asia for Education in Ireland said, “Ireland has a long history of welcoming international students and in recent years has become one of the top destinations for Indian students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. It provides the benefits of English speaking education in a country that’s at the heart and the cultural, economic and technologically leading edge of Europe. Students will experience an education that goes deeper than books, tutorials or lectures. Education in the real sense of the word.”

Recently, some 3,000 Indian students travelled to Ireland to undertake their studies, many of whom are keen to explore the subsequent career opportunities that Ireland offers. To further encourage Indian students to visit the country, the Government of Ireland has announced details of its next Education in Ireland Virtual Showcase – February 27 from 13:00 to 18:00 IST.

The event includes 20 of Ireland’s top higher education institutions who are offering places on globally recognised UG and UG programmes in Business, Science, Engineering, and Humanities, as well as the Irish Visa Office from New Delhi. Talking about the fairs, O’Driscoll added, “the education in Ireland Virtual Showcase promises to be a big event, with over 1,000 students on the day. It’s the perfect opportunity for Indian and Sri Lankan students to speak directly with admissions and academic staff from Ireland’s top institutions. Students can engage in a chat room format or through video calls”.

Participants can also attend detailed seminars and info sessions on studying in Ireland, talk with college representatives and agents, get advice from official Irish government representatives, learn about scholarships, have the visa process explained, and pose inquiries. Additionally, many of the participating institutions offer scholarships to Indian students.
