New JNU rules: Rs 20,000 fine for dharna, admission cancellation for violence

JNU forms committee to tackle repeated ‘anti-national’ slogans on campus

October 3, 2023

The administration of Jawaharlal Nehru University is set to establish a committee in the near future to investigate the recurring instances of slogans deemed “anti-national” being raised on campus, as confirmed by an official on Monday.

This decision comes in response to the recent circulation of images featuring slogans such as “Indian-Occupied Kashmir,” “Free Kashmir,” and “Bhagwa Jalega” inscribed on the School of Languages building wall across social media. The university administration has already taken the initiative to repaint these walls.

JNU Rector Satish Chandra Garkoti informed PTI that they are currently awaiting a report from their chief security officer. The subsequent actions will be determined based on the recommendations presented in this report.

Garkoti also mentioned that the university has devised a plan to establish a committee that will address the recurrent occurrences of slogans perceived as “anti-national” on the campus.
