Kalorex Group of Institutions: Forging a legacy of Pre-K-12 educational excellence

November 4, 2020

Promoted by the Calorx Foundation (estb.1995), the Kalorex Group of Institutions (Kalorex) is one of the largest group of educational institutions in India that envisions to “be the first choice for all possible target groups in providing quality education”. Incepted as Delhi Public School, Bopal (Ahmedabad) in 1996, over the past two and a half decades, Kalorex has steadily grown to a 40 plus institutions-strong network of eight K-12 institutions and 30 plus preschools in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka that has provided high-quality education to over 34,000 plus students mentored by 3,700 plus teachers over the past two and a half decades.

The six CBSE affiliated Kalorex schools in Gujarat have established a statewide reputation within a short span of time. DPS Bopal, has been routinely ranked among Ahmedabad’s top 3 co-educational day schools in the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings while the Calorx Public Schools in Mundra, Rajula and Bharuch are consistently ranked #1 in the respective cities.  Kalorex  also runs an IB-affiliated Calorx Olive International School (COIS) in Ahmedabad.

Committed to give back to the society, Kalorex also runs non-profit ventures such as the Visamo Kids Foundation (esb. 2002) for underprivileged children, Kalorex Prerna (estb. 2001) for students with learning difficulties and a vocational training institute – Vocational Educational Development Institute of Calorx (VEDIC, estb. 2010) — that aims at transforming the lives of unskilled women and underprivileged children.

Focus on academic rigour

Kalorex focuses on academic excellence as a core value and every effort is made to research the latest teaching-learning methods to ensure that they meet the high standards that the institutions have set for themselves.

All Kalorex schools follow an academic framework called the Kalorex Taxonomy that draws the best from several tried and tested educational theories and pedagogies. The in-house teacher training programmes conducted every year also ensure that the teachers keep abreast of the internationally benchmarked practices and pedagogies. Be it blended and Flipped Learning, ICT in learning, Design Thinking or Active Learning strategies, the Training and Development department ensures continuous professional development for the teachers.

Integration of technology in teaching-learning

Kalorex has always been ahead of its times when it comes to leveraging technology. In the early 2000’s when the use of technology was unknown in most schools, the Group institutions had communication systems like pagers in place for their transportation system. This was soon followed by an intranet platform for all school communications and the use of laptops by the teachers and students for teaching and learning.  Presently, all       Kalorex institutions have adopted the latest technologies to enhance the learning experience for students. This has ensured smooth delivery of learning amid the prolonged COVID-19 induced mass closure of schools.

Emphasis on co-curricular learning

Committed to the holistic development of students, the Kalorex institutions place strong emphasis on sports and co-curricular education. Sports such as Football, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming, Skating, Volleyball and a host of other indoor and outdoor games form an integral part of the school curriculum. Music, dance and art & craft, etc help nurture the creativity and artistic potential of students and offer then ample opportunities for competing on national and international platforms.

Adapting to the Covid-19 era

Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Kalorex institutions have adhered to all the mandates and guidelines of the government and the respective school examination boards. The institutions have followed all the pandemic related rules laid down by the Ministry of Home Affairs and implemented emergency measures as and when required.  The stakeholders, i.e, parents, teachers and students have demonstrated excellent cooperation and supported each other wholeheartedly. Kalorex’s relentless efforts towards parent, teacher and student engagement during these testing times has helped reaffirm and strengthen the faith and trust of all its stakeholders.
