Karnataka Hijab row: Three students miss practical exams

February 28, 2022

Three of the six girls from the girls pre-university college in Udupi have missed their practical examinations owing to the Hijab row.

Three girls, who were among the six to raise their voices in the start over the Hijab ban in their government girls PU college were not allowed to attend practical examinations which began on Monday as they refused to take off hijabs.

According to students, a lecturer from the college told the students that their practical records would be accepted only of they removed the Hijab inside school as directed in an interim order by the Karnataka High Court.

These students, who are all studying in class 12 (second PU) were to attend physics practical exams today. The students said that they were sent to the principal’s chamber to get the issue resolved.

Students also alleged that if they failed to attend practical exams, they would be deemed ineligible to attend theory examinations in the future.
