The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced the postponement of the Common Entrance Test for aspiring medical and engineering students this year. Exams that were scheduled to be conducted on July 7-8 have been postponed to August 28-29. This comes in the wake of an unprecedented surge in cases of Covid-19 with the onset of a second wave of the pandemic in the country.
Karnataka on Wednesday reported 40,000 new cases and an overall positivity rate at about 29.6 percent. Students have been pleading for postponement of various exams on social media platforms.
This announcement by the KEA comes a while after the Department of Pre-university Education announced the postponement of board exams for second year pre-university students in Karnataka.
The new timetable was released by the Karnataka Examinations Authority on Wednesday. Biology exams will be held from 10.30 am to 11.50 am and the Mathematics exam will be held between 2.30 pm and 3.50 pm on August 28. Physics exams will be held between 10.30-11.50 am while chemistry will be conducted between 2.30 pm and 3.50 pm on August 29. Kannada test will be held between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm on August 30 for Horanadu and Gadinadu candidates.
