A 15-year-old Mumbai girl from the state’s Kanjurmarg area was attacked with acid by her former school principal, teacher, and staffers. The incident took place on LBS road in Kanjurmarg when the victim was out for a morning walk around 6:15 am on Sunday. Her former school’s principal identified as Huns Aara, a teacher identified as Javed and staffers Aman and Hashim were waiting for her from beforehand.
The victim was a former student of Nasheman Urdu School in Bhandup where she studied till Class 9 and is currently pursuing a diploma in electronic engineering from an institute in Mahim. According to the victim’s police statement, last year when she was studying at the school, she was punished by the school staffers and teachers for no reason.
Following the incident, she informed her father who then filed a police complaint against the school staffers.
The victim’s statement said, “They blocked my way and Javed sir along with Hashim and Aman held my hands while principal Huns Aara threw some liquid from a mug she was holding on me. I felt a severe burning sensation on my chest and legs where the white liquid thrown by Aara had fallen.”
She further said, “As the trio held me, Huns Aara threatened me saying they will attack my father, mother and siblings in a similar manner with acid. After that, they left me and fled in a white car. I somehow informed my father who then reached the spot and took me to Rajawadi hospital”. The victim was treated at the hospital and then discharged.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Lakhmi Gautam from East region of Mumbai Police said, “We have registered a case under sections 326 (B), 506, 34 of the IPC for attempted acid attack, threatening and criminal intimidation against the four accused named by the victim.”
