NEET PG rescheduled to June 23 in view of Lok Sabha polls

March 21, 2024

Due to the Lok Sabha elections, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has rescheduled the NEET PG exam to June 23, 2024, from its initial date of July 7. This decision was made during a meeting of the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the NMC with several medical authorities, including the Medical Counselling Committee, Directorate General for Health Sciences, and National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences. The rescheduling aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination amidst the electoral process.

The results of the NEET PG exam will be announced by July 15, providing candidates with timely feedback on their performance. Subsequently, the counselling process for admissions into postgraduate medical courses will be conducted from August 5 to October 15, facilitating the allocation of seats in various medical institutions across the country.

Despite the change in exam dates, the eligibility criteria for appearing in NEET PG 2024 remain consistent, with the cut-off date set at August 15, 2024. This ensures fairness and equity in the selection process, allowing eligible candidates sufficient time to prepare and apply for the examination.

The rescheduled academic session will commence on September 16, offering aspiring medical professionals the opportunity to embark on their postgraduate studies. With the last date for joining set as October 21, candidates will have ample time to complete the admission formalities and begin their educational journey towards fulfilling careers in the field of medicine.
