NIRF Rankings 2020: IISc Bangalore announced best university

THE subject ranking 2021: IISc only Indian institute in top 100

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced the NIRF (National Institute Ranking Framework) Indian Rankings for Indian institutes today, June 11, 2020. The ranks were scheduled to be announced in April but was delayed due to the Covid-19 crisis. This year, the IITs have again scored big in the list with IIT Madras emerging as the best in overall category. It has also emerged as the top institute in engineering category. This was followed by IISc Bangalore and IIT Delhi.

In the university category, IISc grabbed the first spot followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) at second and third positions respectively.

Miranda House is the top college in the NIRF Rankings 2020 followed by Lady Shri Ram College and Hindu Collegeand. Jamia Hamdard claimed top position in the Pharma category while IIT-Madras was ranked as the best engineering college.

This is the first year featuring Dental Institute rankings – Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences, Delhi emerged as the best institute, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Udupi, at second and Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune at third rank.

IIM Ahmedabad topped the list of management institutes in the country in the NIRF Rankings 2020 followed by IIM Bangalore at the second place and IIM Calcutta at the third place.

Launched in 2015, the NIRF rankings were first announced in 2016. The institutes are awarded based on the following parameters – Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
