On Thursday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 389 schools across five districts as part of the state government’s transformative program. These districts include Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, and Bargarh.

The initiative, falling under the ‘5T’ framework, is recognized as a pioneering effort in good governance, setting new standards for citizen service delivery. The ‘5T’ principles encompass teamwork, technology, transparency, and timely actions, ultimately leading to transformation.

The largest number of schools, totaling 149, underwent transformation in Patnaik’s home district of Ganjam, followed by 112 in Kendrapara, 57 in Jagatsinghpur, and 11 in Jharsuguda district. This phase of the program covers a total of 1,794 schools throughout the state.

Highlighting the significance of the ‘5T’ initiative, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to the comprehensive transformation of schools, colleges, tourist destinations, temples, monasteries, and hospitals. He underscored the vital role of schools in shaping the future of society and the government’s dedication to the improvement of the education sector.

Patnaik pointed out that the earlier three phases of the transformational program had already led to the enhancement of 6,883 schools, providing improved infrastructure, including better buildings, classrooms, computers, playgrounds, and libraries.

In addition, the Chief Minister mentioned a significant provision made by the government – a 15% reservation for students from state-run schools in medical and engineering institutions, emphasizing the commitment to empowering students and enhancing educational opportunities in the state.
