Private Schools SOS: Interview with Manit Jain, chair FICCI Arise

Manit Jain - FICCI ARISE

Summiya Yasmeen interviews Manit Jain, cofounder, Heritage Group of Schools and Chair, FICCI Arise

Manit Jain, co-founder of the Heritage Group of Schools, Delhi NCR and chair FICCI Arise, speaks to Summiya Yasmeen, managing editor, EducationWorld about the impact of the Covid-19 fees waiver government circulars on the country’s 375,000 private schools.

Manit Jain argues for governments to exercise greater care and caution before issuing such diktats which may destroy India’s private schools; appeals to parents who can pay to meet their fees payment obligation because even the most well-resourced schools will run out of funds if tuition fees are not collected for more than 2-3 months, and advises against cutting salaries of teachers — who are already poorly paid — as it may dissuade aspiring teachers from entering the profession. Moreover he gives a summary of the many valuable recommendations made by FICCI Arise to the government.
