A 22-year-old woman engineering student, who disappeared on March 30 from Pune, Maharashtra, was discovered murdered in Ahmednagar district, as per a police official’s statement on Sunday.
Reportedly, she was kidnapped by three individuals, including a college friend, for ransom and later killed by strangulation.
Her body was found in Ahmednagar, and the three suspects have been arrested.
According to the official, the victim, a student at a college in the Wagholi area, was last seen with a male college friend and two others on March 29, who then took her to Ahmednagar. They demanded a ransom of Rs 9 lakh from her parents, subsequently strangling her, burying her body, and removing her phone’s SIM card.
Her family, unable to contact her, filed a missing persons report, prompting a police investigation. The culprits later demanded the ransom, leading to their identification through technical analysis.
Following their arrest, the suspects confessed to the crime.
“We have arrested all three accused, and further investigation is ongoing,” the official confirmed.
