Punjab: BJP criticizes government over AAP-Related questions in board exam

March 11, 2025

The BJP on Monday slammed the Punjab government, accusing it of political influence in education after a Class 12 Political Science exam allegedly included questions about the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to the BJP, the Punjab School Education Board examination held on March 4 featured two questions—one asking the year of AAP’s founding and another about its policies and programmes.

Punjab BJP media head Vineet Joshi alleged that the Bhagwant Mann-led government was misusing the education system to influence 18-year-old voters ahead of the 2027 assembly elections.

“If students are being asked about AAP’s policies, it means they have been taught about them throughout the academic year. This is a clear attempt to shape young voters’ political views,” Joshi said.

He further claimed that AAP is resorting to such tactics after facing electoral setbacks. “Instead of winning votes through governance, AAP is trying to influence young minds through the education department,” he alleged.

Joshi also questioned why other major political parties—such as the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP—were excluded from the curriculum.

“We strongly condemn AAP’s political interference in Punjab’s education system. The education department should remain impartial and free from political propaganda,” he said.
