Rajasthan: Differently-able boy beaten, thrown into water tank by class teacher

January 31, 2020

A seven-year-old physically challenged boy studying at a private school in Bundi, Rajasthan was beaten with a stick by his class teacher and thrown into a water tank for failing to put covers on his textbooks. The accused teacher then pulled the child out of the water tank.

The boy’s father, Sonu Singh said, “When our son reached home at 2 pm, his uniform and shoes were soaked in water. When his mother asked him about it, the child revealed that he was severely punished by the class teacher of Central Academy Secondary School in Devpura for not covering his books.”

Singh further added that his son told them, “Mahima madam first beat me with a stick after holding my hands. She held me on the top of the water tank and dropped me into it.”

Following a complaint by the parents of the boy on Thursday evening, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) assured that action would be taken following an inquiry and have started an investigation into the incident.
