Rajasthan: Schools to remain shut till Nov 16

November 2, 2020

All schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions in Rajasthan will remain closed for students till November 16. Furthermore, swimming pools, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment parks and similar places will also remain closed till November 30. The Rajasthan government said on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot directed to take strict action against the sale of firecrackers and fireworks in the state and polluting vehicles running without fitness to protect the health of coronavirus-infected patients and the general public from the toxic smoke emitting from them, it said.

Earlier, the Rajasthan High Court on September 7, 2020 allowed private schools to collect 70 percent of the tuition fees. The order came while it was hearing petitions against a state government order barring schools from collecting fee for three months due to the pandemic. The high court added that in case of non-payment of fees, students can be barred from joining online classes but shall not be expelled.

The order by Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma came during a hearing on petitions by the Society of Catholic Education Institutions in Rajasthan and other outfits.
