SGU encourages academic research and innovation and has so far received four patents.

Range/diversity of programmes offered
Apart from offering 50 UG, PG and Ph D courses in seven streams and 13 specialisations, SGU offers a choice based credit system under which students can choose subjects from a range of disciplines.
