A teacher of a government school in Asifabad district has been suspended over allegations of clicking pictures of girl students and sending them to strangers without consent.
The incident took place at a government school in Asifabad district in Telangana. The teacher, P Savitha, a school assistant of a high school was suspended for dereliction of duties and adverse attitude in the school in Babapur Gangapur school in Chintamanepalli mandal was accused of taking photographs and videos of the girl students without their consent. Later, she shared the same with outsiders.
The teacher also allegedly had conversations around consumption of liquor and normalising conversations with strangers.
Following this, students’ organizations and parents staged a protest in front of the school asking authorities to act against the teacher and suspend her at the least.
The school authorities, however, said a thorough enquiry would be conducted to ascertain the facts. Parents continued their protest saying that they would not send their children to school unless the teacher was suspended.
“Some parents levelled the allegations against the teachers and organized protests seeking appropriate action against her. An enquiry would be conducted into this and suitable action based on the findings would be taken. Until then, she has been placed under suspension,” Kumarum Bheem Asifabad, district education officer Parshi Ashok said on Wednesday.
