The Heritage School & Encyclopaedia Britannica bring Know for Sure quiz to Kolkata

The Heritage School, Kolkata, in association with Encyclopaedia Britannica – best known for its authoritative reference material – organised the Know for Sure quiz in Kolkata on November 27. The quiz show was conducted by eminent TV personality, and India’s best known quizmaster, Siddhartha Basu. Over 150 teams from over 31 top schools of Kolkata participated in the qualifying round of the quiz. They were South Point High School, The Heritage School, DPS Ruby Park, DPS New Town, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, Modern High Schools for Girls, MP Birla High School and many more. In the finals, DPS Ruby Park, Modern High for Girls, two teams of The Heritage School, DPS New Town and South Point High School were selected from the qualifying round.
The final round of the quiz comprised various rounds; the first round featured random questions to individual teams with clues as life-lines, the second round named as ‘Core Qs’ ( a buzzer round) focussed on questions from the current environmental scenario, the third round named as ‘Q tunes’, had oral clues such as a music or a video clip from various inspirational and entertainment movies and music albums for the children, the fourth round named as ‘Take your pic’ comprised of questions related to pictures of personalities, places and many more, the fifth round named as ‘Q tubes’, focussed on video clips, the sixth round named as ‘All for sure’ consisted of a topic where multiple hints are given and the participant has to select six right hints which matches with the topic, and the last round focussed on random questions to the participants. At the end, DPS Ruby Park was declared as the winner scoring the highest points, Modern High School for Girls was the first runners-up and The Heritage School, the second runners-up.

Speaking about the quiz contest, Sarvesh Shrivastava, managing director, Encyclopaedia Britannica South Asia said, “The quiz contest is based on our general knowledge series (for classes 1-8) – Know for Sure – authored by Siddhartha Basu. The entire series is focused on learning through discovery and instigates the students in asking the ‘right questions’. We have been successfully hosting similar quizzes in different parts of the country in association with prestigious associations and institutions such as The Heritage School, Kolkata and are excited for the event.”
