On Thursday, a schoolteacher was arrested for allegedly inciting communal hatred. She reportedly instructed a Muslim student to slap a Hindu classmate who failed to answer a question.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at a private school in Dugawar village, within the Asmoli police station jurisdiction in Sambhal district.
The teacher, identified as Shaista, was booked under sections 153A (promoting enmity between different groups based on religion, race, etc.) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code, following a complaint by the Hindu boy’s father.
The accused teacher has been taken into custody, according to Additional SP Shrish Chandra.
