The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has announced its plan to revoke the recognition of 67 schools where proxy candidates were caught taking high school and intermediate board exams. These impersonators, known locally as ‘Munna Bhai’, were caught in the act, and after registering an FIR against them, they have been sent to jail.
According to Divya Kant Shukla, the UP Board Secretary, a total of 120 proxy candidates have been caught from these schools. He also stated that legal action has been taken against all those involved.
The Board has identified the 67 colleges in the state that enrolled proxy candidates who did not follow the prescribed conditions for recognition, based on a report from DIOS. “These schools have committed serious irregularities in the conduct of examinations and have violated the clause given in Regulation-11 of Chapter VII of the Secondary Education Act, 1921. Under this, the recognition of the institutions will be withdrawn,” said Shukla. The process of revoking recognition has been initiated against all 67 schools.
Meanwhile, the annual home examinations for Classes 1 to 8 in government and aided schools in the state will be held from March 20 to 24. The evaluation of answer sheets and preparation of results will be done until March 30, with report cards to be distributed on March 31. The exams are being held after a gap of two years.
Pratap Singh Baghel, the Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, has been quoted as informing that oral examinations will be held for Class 1 students, while both oral and written examinations will be conducted for students in Class 2 to 5. Only written exams will be held for students in Classes 6 to 8.
The UPSEB’s decision to withdraw recognition from schools where proxy candidates were caught highlights the Board’s commitment to ensuring a fair and just education system in the state.
