Overview

Founded in 1993, Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), IIT Kharagpur was the first school of management to be set up within the IIT system. It was initiated by a distinguished alumnus and a life time fellow of the institute, Vinod Gupta. VGSoM is one of the leading B-schools in India. In 2010, the school started an executive MBA programme for working executives, along with its flagship MBA programme. The institute regularly organizes MDP (Management Development Programme) programmes and seminars to cater to various needs of industry. It was ranked No.12 among top B-schools in India by the prestigious Wall Street journal. It was also recently ranked No.13 among top government B-schools by HT-Mint and C-Fore survey.

Campus

The institute hosts two computer laboratories with all the modern facilities. The students of VGSoM have access to both the Central Library of IIT Kharagpur, and the institute’s own library. Other facilities include film society, hospital and guest house. The gymkhana provides various outdoor and indoor sports facilities such as football, cricket, tennis and basket ball.

Academics

MBA Programme: Master of Business Administration is the flagship programme of this institute. It is a full time two-year residential programme for graduate engineers and master degree holders in science, economics and commerce. Executive MBA Programme: EMBA is a three year programme for working executives, delivered from the Kolkata and Bhubaneswar campuses of IIT Kharagpur. Phd Programme: The school offers an advanced programme in management leading to the award of the PhD degree of IIT Kharagpur.

General Information

Admission

For admission to MBA course, candidates are required to secure first class in Bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology, first class in Master’s degree in science or first class in Master’s degree in economics or commerce. Selection will be made on application rating, performance in JMET and performance in group discussion and personal interview. Admissions to the doctoral programme of VGSoM are tied up with doctoral admissions of IIT Kharagpur. Fees: Tuition fee per semester is Rs.1,50,000. The course fee is Rs.7,00,000.

Accommodation

Separate accommodations for boys and girls are provided in the halls of residence for post graduate students. All the rooms are w-fi connected and equipped with modern facilities.
