The Wilson College, set up in 1832 in Mumbai, is one of India’s oldest colleges. It was awarded an A rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2005.
Located opposite Mumbai’s iconic Girgaum Chowpatty, the college building was constructed in 1889 and designed by John Adams in the domestic Victorian Gothic style. It is listed as a Grade III heritage structure in the city. As of 2011, the college offers a variety of subjects for both higher secondary and undergraduate students which include university aided courses for the Arts and the Sciences as well as self-financed courses such as Mass Media, Information Technology, Management Studies, Biotechnology and Computer Science.

It first began as the Ambroli School in Girgaum and in the end came to be known as the Wilson School. Apart from on campus accommodation, the college has a Gymkhana ground which faces the Marine Drive. Thelibrary isamongstthe oldest and best in the city of Mumbai. Having a collection of more than 80,000 books, periodicals and journals of national and international repute, it has served the academic community well since the College shifted to its present location. The CD and DVD section also is fast expanding.
The college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and offers courses in arts, science and professional courses.

Candidates who seek admission to the Degree College must wholly fill the application form. Admission is based on the marks obtained in 12th. It can be procured from the office of the institute on paying Rupees 100. Then a personal interview is conducted for the short listed students.

The Wilson College runs three hostels within the college campus to provide accommodation for both men and women.
St. Andrew’s House (est. 1961) is one of the two boy’s Hostels run by the college. There are 21 double rooms and 11 single rooms in the hostel. The hostel is also wi-fi enabled. Mackichan Hall, named after Dr Dugald Mackichan (Principal of the college from 1884 to 1920) is the other boys’ hostel run by Wilson College.There are 46 single rooms and 12 sharing rooms in the hostel.
Pandita Ramabai Hostel (PRH) (est. 1932) is the girls’ hostel of Wilson College.
