A government school teacher in Bihar has been arrested and jailed for allegedly telling students “nobody should vote for Modi,” an official said on Sunday.
According to Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar, the teacher was booked for violating the election model code of conduct after the district education officer lodged an FIR.
DEO Ajay Kumar Singh reported that family members of several students from the government secondary school in Amrakh, Kurhani block, brought the teacher’s conduct to his attention. They submitted a written complaint stating the teacher, Harendra Rajak, told students not to vote for Modi, claiming that food grains distributed under the free ration scheme were unfit for human consumption.
Singh added that several students confirmed Rajak’s statements in the classroom. The teacher’s actions were deemed a violation of the model code of conduct, which prohibits government employees from influencing election outcomes by speaking for or against any political party. Consequently, an FIR was lodged for necessary action.
