Days after several schools received bomb blast threats via emails, Bengaluru Bishop Cottons Girls School woke up to the mail on Monday. Bishop Cotton Girls’ School was also among the 16 schools that received hoax bomb threat.
According to the police, the school, had not checked their official mail on Friday, when these mails were sent to several other schools, the school alerted the police when it came to their notice.
The Cubbon Park Police Station was later alerted and according to police officials a bomb squad was sent to the spot on Monday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (central) MN Anucheth said, “The school received the email on April 8 but they saw it today. We had sent a bomb squad and dog squad to check and there was nothing to be worried about or suspicious.”
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Home Minister Araga Jnanendra had, on Saturday said that central agencies are looking into the hoax bomb threat received by 16 private schools in Bengaluru. He said investigations were underway.
The email sent on Friday said, “A very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention is not a joke, this is not a joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!”
Police believe that 16 such schools received mails, some of who might have not checked their e-mails yet.
