GATE 2023 website launched: Dates, schedule announced

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, has launched the official website for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering – GATE 2023. Candidates who are willing to appear for the examination can login to the official website  https://gate.iitk.ac.in.

The Online Application process will start from August 30, 2022, and the aspirants will be able to fill out regular applications till September 30, 2022. Admit Cards will be available for download by January 3, 2023. The examination will be held on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, 2023 across eight zones. Individual response sheets will be made available on February 15, 2023 and answer key will be released on February 21, 2023.

Candidates will be given time from February 22 to February 25, 2023 to raise challenges and objections with respect to the answer key. After considering all the challenges raised by candidates, results will be declared on March 16, 2023 and individual score card will be made available on March 22, 2023.

The examination will be jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Roorkee and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. It will be organized on behalf of the National Coordination Board-GATE (NCB) and the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

GATE 2023 is a computer-based test (CBT) and will be conducted in twenty-nine subject areas with the choice of selecting two papers in some subjects. The examination will test the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, sciences, humanities and social sciences. Prospective candidates studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or those who have completed any government degree in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Sciences / Commerce / Arts shall be eligible. GATE is diversified to include students from Arts and Commerce streams as well, for them to achieve better opportunities for higher studies.

GATE holds tremendous potential for students aspiring for higher studies. It helps in getting admission to and/or getting financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering / Technology / Architecture/ Science / Commerce / Arts and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment processes.
