Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma announced on Thursday that the government will establish a sports university and build dedicated hostels and facilities for sportspersons at the district and divisional levels.
Speaking to sportspersons, coaches, sports organization representatives, youth, and startup entrepreneurs in a pre-budget dialogue on youth empowerment and sports at his office, Sharma emphasized the importance of youth as drivers of innovation, progress, and social change.
He stated that the government is committed to supporting youth in various fields, including education, business, employment, and sports. Sharma highlighted that winning medals enhances the prestige of both the athlete’s family and the state, urging parents to support their children’s involvement in sports alongside academics.
The chief minister revealed plans to promote sports talent in rural areas by setting up a sports university and developing facilities and hostels at the district and division levels. He also mentioned that the state government is considering organizing ‘Khelo Rajasthan Youth Games’ similar to ‘Khelo India Games.’
Sharma noted that the government has already provided 17,000 government jobs to young people in recent months and plans to recruit 70,000 more this year.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari, also present at the event, mentioned that under Sharma’s leadership, the government is seeking budget-related suggestions from people in various fields to guide their work. Industry, Youth, and Sports Affairs Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore added that the government is focusing on developing sports infrastructure to provide international-level training to athletes.
