October 9, 2020

University Grants Commission (UGC) recently released a notice on its official website stating that classes for all the affiliated colleges and universities is likely to resume for odd semesters from November 18. UGC had also informed all the affiliated universities earlier that the classes for all the students for the academic session 2020-2021 will most likely start in November.

The institutes will have to complete the admission process for this session by October 31.

It has been instructed by UGC that all universities must start their classes from November 1 if the admission process is complete by October 30. If there is a delay in the admission process, colleges can start the classes from November 18. As per the notice, the universities have to conduct classes for six days in a week to make up for the academic loss due to the pandemic.

The universities will have the liberty to conduct blended mode of learning – online or offline classes, as per the convenience of the students and teachers. Universities will also have to refund the full fees in case of the cancellation of admission.

UGC has also instructed that the merit-based admissions in all affiliated colleges must be complete by October 31, so that there is no further loss of the academic year for the students as well as the faculty.
