The Happening Haryana Global Investors Summit 2016 was held at Hotel Leela Ambience, Gurgaon on March 8 and 9 in which the winners of the Startup Programme of Happening Haryana were felicitated. Students from The NorthCap University, Gurgaon were among the top 3 winners. The final day of the summit was graced by the presence of the chief minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar, education minister Ram Bilas Sharma, finance minister Capt Abhimanyu and many senior dignitaries from Government of Haryana and industries. The winners were felicitated by Captain Abhimanyu. The winning teams were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 each, trophies and certificate of recognition.
In the preliminary rounds, over 300 students from about 50 colleges and universities from 21 districts of Haryana participated and pitched their ideas for startups. In the semi-finals held at The NorthCap University, 10 teams were selected for the final round. In the final round at Happening Haryana Summit the budding entrepreneurs pitched their innovative and fresh ideas which were appreciated by one and all present. Investors expressed interest in funding the projects presented by the young entrepreneurs.
The winning teams are:
Team ‘Tag On’ comprising of Shubham Dupta, Shubham Dawra, Shubhashree Das, Siddharth Saxena and Sughosh Pandey from The NorthCap University and Prateek and Shweta from Manav Rachna stood first in the competition.
Team ‘Farm Net’ from IIM Rohtak secured the second position.
Team Bloodline comprising of Vineet Gupta, Pranav Jain, Palash Chhabra and Artika Manchanda from The NorthCap University, Gurgaon and Shubhanshu Goyal from DCE got the third position.
‘Tag on’ is a means to locate anything, lost baggage, person or even pets, and this has wide application at a low cost. ‘Farm Net’ is to connect farmers with corporate customers. ‘Bloodline’ is an app interface between the blood donor and recipient and has vast socially relevant potential. Team Bloodline was appreciated well by the investors and was given support from NASSCOM (The National Association of Software and Services Companies) as well as on the spot funding by investors.
Shubham Dawra of The NorthCap University, from the top winning team ‘Tag on’ said, “It was a great experience participating in the startup weekend programme. It was a great initiative by the university and Government of Haryana. We hope we continue to receive support so that we can make it big.”
