G D Goenka Public School, Ghaziabad is an English medium coeducational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

Started in 2010 by businessman-industrialist Mr. N.P. Goel, GD Goenka Public School, Ghaziabad, is a target-oriented school that regards its students as future assets of the country.

The mission of the school is to make leaders instead of followers. It believes that every student has some talent and aims to guide students in the right direction. The school hopes to make each child a winner as well as an asset and a global citizen.

Campus

The school campus hosts a well stocked library and media centre, science lab, language lab, computer lab, robotics lab, rooms for art, dance and music, cafeteria and a counselling center with a school counsellor and a special educator.

The sports facilities provided include a cricket ground, tennis courts, basketball court, a well-maintained swimming pool, squash court and facilities for running, long jump, high jump, shot put and track events. There is provision for indoor activities such as table tennis, carrom, chess, yoga, aerobics and a fully equipped modern gymnasium.

Academics

Besides regular subjects, children of primary school are imparted value education and values such as honesty, discipline, sharing and friendship, concern towards environment, cleanliness, patriotism and courage. Methods such as learning a rhyme, making a collage, story narration using puppets, role play and other group activities are followed.

Students are sensitised about world politics and global issues. Math enrichment classes and its practical application are conducted. Students are encouraged to participate in Olympiads, interclass quiz and debates. Newspaper reading and vocabulary building are an integral part of the curriculum. Awareness about issues like gender equality, life skills education and value education are also integrated in regular classes. Remedial classes are held for those in need of additional help. Counselling sessions are held to help students cope with problems such as bullying.

In the middle school, the focus is on improving the English fluency and conversational skills of children to help them comprehend, understand and think abstractly, as well as write creatively.

In secondary and senior secondary classes, the school strictly abides by the CBSE curriculum and prepares the students for the class X and XII board exams.

Extracurriculars

Extracurricular activities include creative writing, flash card games, picture composition, colouring and drawing, riddle-solving, age appropriate activities in the concept room, open-ended questions, Madhubani painting, dori work, glass painting, starch painting, and math and science experiments. Math sessions are regularly held in the math lab. Animated and educational films for children are screened. Excursions and adventure camps are held to improve fitness, learning and team spirit.

Dance/music, art and drama are compulsory subjects. Children are also involved in community service and social awareness programmes. Outdoor trips and excursions form an essential part of the school’s curriculum. Trips to Germany, Australia and NASA are organised for the students.

Students are coached in cricket, tennis, basketball, squash, athletics, long jump, high jump, shot put, swimming, table tennis, carrom, chess, yoga and aerobics.

Admission

Parents must first register the child by either personally collecting the registration form from the school office from Monday- Saturday between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm or by registering online. A pre-arranged appointment should be taken for a school tour; appointments are usually available on Saturdays.

Selections for nursery to class I are made on the basis of an informal interaction between the parents and the principal. The date and time for the informal interaction is intimated by the school office.

From class II onwards, admissions are based on an entrance test and an interaction with the principal.

The minimum age as on March 31 should be 3 years for nursery, and 4 years for KG class.

Achievement

GD Goenka Public School, Ghaziabad was awarded the International School Award 2013-2016 by the British Council.

The school has collaborated with the Sehwag Cricket Academy owned by Indian Cricketer Mr. Virendra Sehwag, to bring professionalism in its students who wish to take up cricket as a career.
