The Aditya Birla Integrated School, Mumbai is a coeducational day school for differently abled children. Established in 2014 and promoted by the Aditya Birla Education Trust, the school is affiliated with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). The medium of instruction is English.

The school aims at nurturing children with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It provides ample opportunities catering to the various needs of the learners. Along with academics, the school also promotes co-curricular activities and therapy programmes. The school boasts a multi disciplinary team of highly trained professionals, educators and therapists and puts into service the best international methodologies based on individual skill levels that concentrates on learning abilities and emotional needs of the child.

The school boasts a student teacher ratio of 10:1 (Inclusive Educational Programme) and 5:1 (Differentiated Learning Programme).

Academics

Affiliated with the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), the Aditya Birla Integrated School offers classes from grade I through grade XII, segregated into junior, senior and junior college levels.

At junior level, the school focuses on the use of remedial tools to help prepare the students to receive and retain the learnt concepts and is done by theme based learning that is linked with all subjects. The subjects include English, science, social studies, information and communication technology, maths, environmental science and Hindi.

At senior level, the curriculum concentrates on preparing students for National Institute of Open Schooling Board exams. The programme blends two aspects of comprehension and memory. The continuous evaluation system is followed to help students build memory and prepare themselves with skill sets needed for the board exam preparation. The subjects include English, business studies, data entry operation, economics, home science, French and functional maths.

At junior college level, the subjects include English, business studies, data entry operation, home science and mass communication.

The school encourages the students to participate in various co-curricular activities such as music, art, dance, theatre, robotics programme, judo and gym, games and book clubs.

The sporting activities include football, cricket, swimming and chess.

The school also organises field trips and excursions based on theme of the year book. It also arranges workshops on various topics such as civic awareness, peer pressure, substance abuse, responsible use of the internet, sex education and adolescence, EQ development, coping with stress and stress management and study skills and mental health. Eye camp and dental checkups are also organised by the school.

Besides this, the school also offers Differentiated Learning Methodology that includes speech and language therapy, animal and assisted pet therapy, behaviour modification therapy as a part of their daily programme.

Admission

The school follows a rolling admission policy. Each child is required to go through a detailed psycho-educational evaluation and assessment by the school’s clinical psychologist and special educators of the admission team.

The admission is completely at the discretion of the CEO, Director or Management.
