Overview

Don Bosco High School, Panjim is a boys day school affiliated with the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and prepares students for the class X SSC examination. Established in 1947, Don Bosco is a state government aided school. With over 2,000 students, it is promoted and managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco, which runs a network of schools worldwide.

The school follows the ‘preventive system’ of education, which believes in ‘reason, religion and loving kindness.’ A family spirit creates an atmosphere of freedom and learning.

The school conducts its pre-primary and secondary school education in English, while Konkani is the medium of instruction in the primary classes. 

Campus

The school offers spacious, well-lit and ventilated classrooms, a well-equipped computer lab with LCDs and broadband connection, and an air-conditioned audiovisual room where workshops and seminars are organised.

The school has installed electronic boards in classrooms and teachers are encouraged to make presentations using PowerPoint, MS Excel and Word. Teaching aids such as OHP, LCDs, DVD players, K-YAN projectors, digital cameras and handy cams are extensively used to make teaching more effective.

The school has a separate music room equipped with instruments like drums, guitars, violins, and keyboards, where regular classes are conducted.

The school also has excellent facilities for sports with indoor as well as outdoor basketball courts, an indoor badminton court, a large playground, and a lush green football field.

Academics

The school is affiliated to the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The school prepares its students for the class X SSC examination.

Interactive teaching methods are used. E-classrooms with LCDs and sliding white boards allow teachers and students to work digitally on learning materials.

Extracurricular

The school encourages competitions such as debates, extempore, recitation, spelling bee, dance, music, general knowledge, quiz and mental maths, which are held every month.

Physical training and games such as basketball, football, cricket, athletics, boxing, swimming, sword fencing, handball, table tennis, chess and carrom are encouraged and special coaching is provided.

General Information

Admission

New admissions are subject to availability. Every new pupil must submit either a transfer (leaving) certificate if they come from a recognised school or a municipal birth certificate, if they have not attended a school before.

The school admits students in its pre-primary section.

Achievement

In 2010, Don Bosco High School was among six schools selected from Goa by FilmIt India for the Open Futures-FilmIt INTACH project. The multi-cultural project – which aims at nurturing cultural understanding, care and concern amongst school children through the exciting experience of making and sharing films – resulted in the formation of the Don Bosco Film Club (DBFC) and several of the short films won awards.

Don Bosco High School, Panjim is ranked among the top boys day schools in India by the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2020-21.
