Nalanda International School is a co-educational day school founded in June 2004 in Vadodara, Gujarat, by the Nalanda Knowledge Foundation, a registered non-profit organization. The Nalanda Knowledge Foundation has been espousing the cause of affordable and quality education in India since 1970. Their ventures include scholarships, building hostels, arranging funds for financially weak schools, colleges and institutes providing specialized technical and vocational training.
Nalanda International School is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), being the first school in Vadodara to be accredited by the board. It offers education from nursery to class XII.
Named after the famed Nalanda University of north India which was the first university in the world, Nalanda International School boasts 2000 teachers and 10,000 students on its campus. The school aims to “achieve scholastic brilliance of the highest standards” and believes in “identifying, discovering and cultivating a child’s latent talents to transform them into his/her strengths”.
Sited on the scenic Sevasi-Mahapura Road, about 8 km from the city’s centre, Alkapuri, Nalanda International School poses a quaint picture with its brick and mortar architecture. Sprawling across a 25-acre campus, the school buildings encompass wide open patios, a ‘Bell Tower’, broad corridors and well-ventilated classrooms. In fact, the school’s architectural grace was honored by the internationally acclaimed, ‘Emirates Glass LEAF’ award, i.e. Leading European Architect’s Forum award, in 2006.
The school campus houses four divisions, the pre-school (nursery, junior KG and senior KG), junior school (classes I to IV), middle school (classes V to VIII) and senior school (classes IX to XII).
Large and airy classrooms with ergonomically designed furniture adorn each division. An air-conditioned computer lab and well equipped science labs, independent and well-stocked libraries in every division, and a hi-tech audio-visual theatre with the latest equipments, and a world class sports arena comprise other facility offerings at the school.
Nalanda International is the first school in Vadodara to be affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations at the end of class X and class XII respectively. The school iaims at “achieving the maximum level of academic excellence by offering quality education with values and morals that instil character in its students”.
