Overview

Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School sited at Sembakkam in Chennai is a coeducational day school affiliated with the Matriculation Board of the Tamil Nadu government. It was established by the Alpha Educational Society, which was founded in 1967. The school began functioning on the 16th of June 2004 with around 100 students and 10 teachers. The Higher Secondary section was introduced in the academic year 2011-12. The school aims to “kindle and foster the academic and artistic creative abilities and talents of students, and encourages them to develop themselves into individuals with character, vision and resourcefulness”.

The Alpha School boasts a team of highly educated and trained professionals; continuous in-service professional development programmes are also conducted for the teachers. The training comprises best practices in education including, teaching methodologies and assessment techniques.

Campus

Alpha School is equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure including well equipped science, computer labs, and math labs, and a well stocked library featuring a wide collection of books in all disciplines.

Other facility offerings at Alpha School include remedial, enhancement classes, and transportation facility for the students.

Academics

The school follows the curriculum prescribed by the Matriculation Board of Tamilnadu Government and prepares the pupils for the Matriculation Board Examination at the end of class X. The medium of instruction is English with Tamil, Hindi and French offered as additional languages.

The school strives to adopt new teaching methodologies in the class room and follows a well researched inter-disciplinary curriculum developed by academic experts in the junior classes, which is is a blend of the Cambridge, Waldorf and the Montessori methods.

Extracurricular:
