Overview

All Saints High School, Hyderabad is a co-educational day school which prepares its students for the class X Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education of Telangana also known as Directorate of Government Examinations. Established in 1855 by Rtd. Reverend Daniel Murphy, the Vicar Apostolic of Hyderabad, All Saints is the oldest school in Hyderabad and one of the oldest schools in the country. The class I-X school is managed by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel Educational Society.

Today the school enrols 3,500 students of which 3,000 students study in the English medium section and the rest in the Telugu medium and are offered free-of-charge education. All Saints High School was an all-boys’ school until 1997; in 1998 co-education was introduced in class 1.

Campus

The school campus is spread over an area of 10,435.20 square meters and divided into various sections and blocks including three playgrounds. The school offers facilities for outdoor games like football, cricket, volley ball, badminton, basketball and indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess and caroms.

The classrooms are spacious and well ventilated with comfortable furniture. The school has well equipped computer and science laboratories and a well-stocked library.

Academics

The school prepares the students for SSC Board of Secondary Education of Telangana also known as Directorate of Government Examinations. The medium of instruction is English. Subjects offered are Hindi/Telugu (First language), Hindi/Telugu (Second language), English (Third language), mathematics, social studies, physical science and biological science. The subsidiary subjects are computer science, value education, environmental science, physical education, drawing, craft, dance and music.

The school offers its students opportunities to participate in a variety of inter-school competitions at the school, district, national and international levels.

Admission

Registration for admission to class I is in December every year. Children passing out Montfort Preparatory School are usually admitted into All Saints’ Primary School. However, there is no guarantee that all students are automatically admitted into All Saints’ Primary School.

Admission into other classes is in June depending on the availability of seats and is based on merit. The school is a Roman Catholic Institution, and hence Catholic children are also given special consideration. A vacancy chart is displayed on the notice board during the third week of April of each academic year. Admission is finalised after a preliminary test and/or interview and payment of the prescribed fees, which once paid is not refundable.

Achievement

All Saints High School has won the Montfort Literary, Cultural and Athletic inter-district overall championship for several years and has dominated inter-school cricket competitions over the past years.

The school’s cricket academy is open after school hours to children below the age of 16. The academy has produced many cricketers who have played at the state and national levels.
