Overview

Lourdes Public School and Junior College, Kottayam is a coeducational day school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was promoted in 1996 with the objective of fostering the “mental, cultural and moral development” of children. Recognized as a minority educational institution by Kerala state government, Lourdes Public School and Junior College is owned and managed by Lourdes Education Trust. It offers education from kindergarten to class XII.

Campus

The school campus is sited in the heart of Kottayam town and features a well-furnished administrative block, classrooms, science labs, math lab, computer lab and language lab. The campus also includes a large playground, a basketball court and a football ground. The Lourdes Forane Church is also sited on the school campus.

Academics

The academic year is divided into two semesters consisting of five months each, and the students’ progress is evaluated as per the CCE system by conducting two Formative Assessments and one Summative Assessment in each semester. NCERT textbooks are followed from class I. Hands-on activities are used to help students learn. Lab activities also make the learning process interesting and student-friendly. At the senior secondary level (class XI-XII), students can chose from three streams: 1: English, physics, chemistry, maths and biology 2: English, physics, chemistry, maths and computers 3: English, business studies, accountancy and economics (Optional subjects are maths, informatic practices, Malayalam) Extracurricular Coaching is provided in yoga, taekwondo, art and craft, vocal music, dance, cookery, embroidery, instrumental music and chess. Students can be part of the literary association. Sports like football, volleyball, shuttle badminton, long jump, high jump and shotput are offered.

Admission

The admission procedure to the LKG section starts in early-mid December every year. Admissions are open from the first week of January. The age eligibility for admission to LKG is 4 years. The school office can be contacted for more details. Call 0481 2580010.
