DAV School at New Panvel was promoted under the aegis of the Dayanand Anglo Vedic College Trust and Management Society, which was founded in 1885 to achieve the goals set forth by Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and offers classes from nursery to class XII.
The school aims at “holistic education and achieving a perfect balance between ancient and modern, national and international styles to create a perfect environment for the students”. Says a school representative, “The school aims to hone the individual abilities and discover latent talents in the students and build them up to be confident, responsible individuals.”
The school offers a world class campus and modern infrastructure. DAV Panvel has integrated technology in its teaching methodologies to facilitate the learning process.
The school hosts a fully stocked library featuring about 18,000 books and ‘Lingua-Phone’, an audio-based library for language development, state-of-the-art science, IT and mathematics lab. The computer lab is well equipped with necessary educational software and the internet.
DAV Panvel offers a spacious and well ventilated audio-visual room that hosts myriad activities such as quizzes, debates, declamations, seminars and conferences.
The school facilitates outdoor and indoor sports, with large playgrounds and separate courts for volleyball, kho- kho and basketball, football and hockey grounds and a cricket pitch.
DAV, New Panvel is affiliated to CBSE and offers classes from nursery to class XII. The school follows the Comprehensive Continuous Assessment (CCA) system, that involves regular periodic assessments. The evaluation method for classes I and II is based on performance in the four tests during the academic session, along with the CCA. From class III to class X, the CBSE set rules of CCA is followed.
Extracurricular:
The school promotes a host of co-curricular activities, such as table tennis, drama, singing, dancing, quizzes and debates, besides sports such as cricket, football, basketball and hockey, all of which form an intrinsic part of the school curriculum.
