Overview

Delhi Public School, Mihan Nagpur is a co-educational day school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was founded by the school’s president Tulika Kedia, established in 2018 and run by Shri. Chiranjilal Bajoria Educational Society. After having served the society for so many years with DPS Kamptee Road, the sibling branch DPS MIHAN came into being from the year 2018, with a vision to expand the horizon of holistic education, sustainability, sensitivity, values and ethics and love for nature along. DPS Mihan Nagpur is committed to providing an intellectually stimulating, challenging as well as caring environment to ensure excellence in character. It functions under the aegis of Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi and offers a rich and stimulating curriculum from pre-nursery to secondary level.

The school’s mission is to promote individualistic learning by providing ample opportunities and a safe, congenial environment to students, so that they acquire the requisite skills and knowledge to become successful responsible global citizens.

Campus

Situated on a sprawling 11.5 acre campus, DPS Mihan, Nagpur boasts of state of the art infrastructure with 44 classrooms, three laboratories (computer, maths and composite labs) and two libraries. The junior and senior libraries house a variety of enriching books, positively impacting academic achievement as the students can issue variety of reference books from the library and can spark and broaden their knowledge. The junior library has picture books, pop up books, sound books, texture books which are appropriate for the students of Pre-Primary classes while the senior library is well equipped with over 10,000 books of wide variety like storybooks, novels, autobiographies, reference books, periodicals and magazines etc. for the students of class III onwards.

The campus also houses a resource centre, enabling pre-primary students to engage in the classes attentively and helps in building fine motor skills. The Resource Centre has a wide variety of teaching aids which help the teachers of the pre – primary school to effectively build the concepts of the students with the help of the teaching aids in the form of pink tower, puzzles, toys, musical instruments, storyboards and puppets.

The campus is well-equipped with sports facilities for playing games like cricket, lawn tennis, football, basketball and indoor sports like chess, table tennis and carom. Extracurricular facilities include art, music and dance rooms. The school also boasts a unique dream project ‘Artist Village’ – a unique and one-of-a-kind concept created by the founder Tulika Kedia to have a separate building for performing or visual arts equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for visual and performing arts. The open-air amphitheatre is a large platform for staging students’ academic and cultural activities with a seating capacity of 300. Other unique projects within the school campus include a kitchen garden, a rainwater-harvesting system and composting and vermicomposting pits.

Academics

DPS Mihan, Nagpur is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi and offers a rich and stimulating curriculum from pre-nursery to secondary level. The curriculum integrates lesson plans with art, engaging students in a creative and fun approach to learning where students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. The curriculum is also activity-based, where students are encouraged to get physically and mentally involved in the learning process as activity-based learning helps students learn and retain information. DPS Mihan also engages students in a learning process whereby students “learn by doing” and reflect on their experiences, where well-planned, supervised and assessed experiential learning activities stimulate academic queries by promoting interdisciplinary learning, and intellectual skills. There is an emphasis on communicative language to enable unrestricted and creative expression and inquiry-based learning methodology to foster a greater interest in the material being taught and encourage students to become active contributors to their own learning experience.

The school adopts a competency-based education system, ensuring that students can apply academic knowledge and skills to new contexts and become adept problem-solvers and independent learners. A wide range of activities, sports and competitions are also conducted throughout the year, such as cricket, football, chess, tennis and basketball. Children are exposed to a wide range of musical genres and an array of high-quality musical instruments in music classes, while the dancing skills of children are also enhanced with the Dance classes regularly conducted for all the students, providing exposure to western and classical dance forms and enabling confident expression of the self.

The school has developed its own curriculum and workbooks on fine skills, tailored to meet individual student’s needs and to prepare them for independent living and working. They include vocational education activities, personal grooming, financial responsibility, health consciousness and managing peer pressure. The unique fine skills curriculum aims to help students develop agility and adaptability to different roles and flexible working environments, train them to work well as part of a team, understand the utility of time and people management.

  • Atharva Bulle and Prisha Kaul of class VI secured 1st and 3rd place respectively in shot put under 14 boys and girls category at DSO Athletics Meet (Nagpur Gramin) organised in DSO Stadium, Mankapur.
  • Riddhima Khambre secured 2nd place in 600mts running in under 14 girls category in DSO Athletics Meet (Nagpur Gramin) organised at DSO Stadium, Mankapur; she also secured 5th place in 600 mts District Level Athletics Championship organised at DSO Stadium, Mankapur.
  • Vineet Gadhwal of class VII secured 2nd place in boys category, and Riddhima Khambre of class VII and Tanmayee Reddy of class VI secured 1st and 2nd place in girls category for high jump at DSO Athletics Meet (Nagpur Gramin) organised in DSO Stadium, Mankapur.
  • Atharva Bulle of class VI secured 7th place for shot put in District Level Athletics Championship organised at DSO Stadium, Mankapur.
  • Girvan Kapse of class IV secured 1st place in skating for all four major categories of Single Lap Race, 500 mts Race, 1000 mts race and road race and proceeded ahead for divisional level; secured 2nd place in road race and 3rd place in single lap race as well as in 500 mts. on divisional level and proceeded for state level; and secured 4th place in single lap race and 6th place in 3000 mts race in Son state level organised in Khopoli.
  • Kaushik Chaudhari of class V secured 2nd place at district level half marathon organised by Satupda Sports Club, Kalmeshwar.
  • Vaishnavi Sharma of class IV, Bhavya Jain of class II, Aadhya Sahay of class II and Stuti Sahay of class prepratory won six medals overall in 3rd Republic Cup National Level Karate Competition.
  • Dps Mihan with 29 children bagged 41 prizes in all including three gold, nine silver and seven bronze at Nagpur District Sub-Junior Athletics meet organised by NDAA, Nagpur.
  • Shaivie Bhagat of class I secured 1st place in District and State Level Yoga Competition and represented on National Level Yoga Competition organised by the Federation of Yoga at Lower Parel, Mumbai; and participated in National Level Online Rythmic Yogasan Competition organised by Association of Yoga Mumbai District.

  • Atharva Khirkar of class VI and Kaushik Chaudhari of class V secured 3rd and 5th place respectively in Cross Country Competition organised by Shakuntala Sports Foundation.
  • Girvan Kapse of class IV secured 3rd place in Pro-Inline Race at Open Roller Skating Competition organised by Arna Enterprises and NKSA, Nagpur.
  • Kaushik Chaudhari of class V secured 1st place at Katol Marathon, Katol.
  • Divya Suryawanshi of class VII secured 1st place in high jump and 4×100 mts relay race, Yashvi Pahlajani of class VII secured 2nd place in high jump, and Kaushik Chaudhari of class V secured 3rd place in medley relay in Khasdar Krida Mahotsav 2020.
  • Nakul Bondre of class II bagged two silver medals in different categories and Girvan Kapse bagged a bronze in single lap event and silver medal in double lap event in skating competition organised by NTSW, Nagpur.
  • Children of DPS Mihan won 11 gold, five silver and three bronze medals in skating competition organised by Nair’s Essence School. Also bagged 2nd place in overall trophy for medals.

Extracurricular activities (Recognized Awards)

  • Yash Deshmukh of class IX achieved the State Brilliant Art Excellence Award in the state-level greeting card contest-2021
  • Aditya Gosatwar of class IX received a Certificate of Appreciation by Collector, Chhindwara M.P for his brilliant sand art performance on M.P Foundation Day. He was felicitated by the Central Bank of India for his excellent sand art expression.
  • Anushka Bagadia and Shreyas Deshpande, (class VII- students of Shankar Mahadevan Academy in tie-up with Delhi Public School, Mihan Nagpur) got the opportunity to perform with the great Shankar Mahadevan at Bangalore in the Sangam event (2019).
  • Shreyas Ringe (class VI) bagged third prize in ‘Letter to the Prime Minister Contest’ organised by JCI Nagpur (2020-21).
  • Advika Ghate (class- nursery) bagged first prize in ‘Inter-school Drawing Competition’ organised by Aspire International School, Nagpur.
  • Bhavika Chordiya (class VII) bagged second prize for her artwork on National Science Day 2021 organised by Delhi Public School, Kamptee Road, Nagpur.
  • Saanvi Gabhane from class IV won the Champions Trophy in Abacus from her centre.
  • Bhavika Chordiya from Grade VIII secured 1st position and Sudiksha Joshi from Grade V secured 3rd position in International Hindi Olympiad Examination organised by Hindi Olympiad Foundation.
Nidhi Yadav, Principal, DPS Mihan was a panellist at the 67th episode of Friday@5 organised by the International Council for School Leadership (ICSL) to have a conversation about Developing School-Based Curriculum. ICSL started this weekly eConvo to inspire, empower and enable school leaders to implement NEP 2020 and manage the disruption caused by the pandemic.

Investiture ceremony, 03rd September 2021

DPS Mihan organised an Investiture Ceremony on 3rd September, 2021 for the Students Council 2021. Chief Guest Ms Savita Jaiswal, Director DPS Mihan and Kamptee Road blessed the students on this occasion. The esteemed guest of honour for the day Lt. Col. B.K. Pandey, Chief Security Officer, Brahmos Aerospace, congratulated the newly appointed council members for their preparedness to take up responsibilities entrusted to them. All student council members were honoured with the prestigious sashes and badges during the event. The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.

Teachers day special assembly for grade III-IX, 04th September 2021

In the Teachers’ Day celebrations at DPS Mihan 2021, children were made aware about the importance of this day.  A PPT presentation was shown during their class assembly. To show their gratitude towards their teachers, students from classes III to VII virtually performed a skit and narrated stories in English and Hindi. Students of classes VIII and IX presented a special assembly for the teachers which started with a speech and poem dedicated to the teachers.

Teachers day special assembly for grade prenursery- prep, 04th September 2021

DPS Mihan presented a special assembly on 4th September 2021, which included an inspirational thought, shloka recitation, poem recitation in Hindi and English and story narration. This activity helped the children improve their stage confidence and vocabulary. Children dressed up and presented lovely cards for their teachers to express their love and gratitude.

Teachers day activity for grade I-II, 04th September 2021

Teachers day was celebrated at DPS Mihan on 4th September 2021 through a special assembly and showcasing the PowerPoint presentation for the students. To strengthen the bond between students and teachers, Palm Butterfly Card Making Activity was organized for the students of Grade I. Notelet Activity was organized for class II students where they expressed their gratitude and love for teachers in their own special way. Students learned the value of teachers in their life and their continuous hard work. A podcast by Grade I and II children was also prepared by the children.

Pola celebration for grade pre- nursery- II, 06th September 2021

On 6th September 2021, students of Pre-nursery to Class II of DPS Mihan celebrated Pola Festival with great zeal and enthusiasm. The day started with a Special Assembly in which PPT & videos related to Pola were shown to the students. They were educated about how the farmers celebrate the feast of the bull and how farmers are important to us. Involvement of parents was truly appreciable. Little children sent their wonderful photographs in the traditional attire. They also decorated the cutout of the ox during the online classes. Parents from Grade 1 and 2 took initiative and explained the children how farmers celebrate this harvest festival throughout different parts of India.

National nutrition week for grade pre-nursery-V, 07th September 2021

National Nutrition Week was observed at DPS Mihan from 1st to 7th  September 2021. Various activities were conducted from class pre-nursery to class II at the class level to make the students aware of nutrition and healthy eating habits. An informative Webinar on Food and Nutrition was organised on 09th September 2021 as the concluding event of this week for classes IV and V. The speakers were Mrs. Pratiksha Birole and Mr. Deepak Birole, Founders of Adi Mantra Foods Pvt. Ltd.  The speaker presented a beautiful power point presentation to show how food was grown in the past using traditional methods and today using modern technology.

International literacy day for grade IV-VIII, 08th September 2021

A special assembly was conducted by the students of std VIII  on International Literacy Day. The students expressed their thoughts and shared lovely posters displaying beautifully written, meaningful slogans on literacy. A wonderful power point presentation was also shown to all the students of std VI to VIII to apprise them of the significance of this day. On this occasion, a campaign – ‘LET’S LEND A READING HAND’ was launched.

Clay modelling webinar for grade I-V, 09th September 2021

An eco-friendly Clay Ganesha was crafted and beautifully decorated for the occasion. A webinar on clay modelling was conducted by our Art Teacher Mr. Arvind Gosatwar for the students from Grade – I to V on 9th September 2021 (Thursday).

Photography competition for grade VI-IX, 11th September 2021

An online interschool photography competition named ‘PIXEL PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION’ was organised on 11th September 2021 by DPS, Mihan for the students of classes VI- IX.  Entries were invited for the two categories i.e. Human Expression and Nature. The competition received overwhelming response from various schools. The eminent judges Mr. Abhishek Gulshan, Photographer and Birder, and Mr. Dhritiman Mukherjee, Wildlife Photographer facilitated the winners. Children participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The competition not only served its sole purpose but also gave students a platform to display their vivid ideas and learn more by interacting with people and nature.

Grandparents day for grade III-V, 11th September 2021

DPS Mihan celebrated Grandparents Day virtually with much zeal and enthusiasm. Children from Grade III to V were present with their respected “Buddies” as they fondly call them. It was a treat to watch the elderly people all geared up only to make their grandchildren feel happy. They sang songs, shared some beneficial ideas which were very useful for the initial growth years of the children. They even shared their school days stories and canteen pranks. All were delighted to know that some grandparents had hidden talents like singing, which only their young ones knew.

World first aid day for grade –VI, 11th September 2021

World First Aid Day was observed at DPS Mihan Nagpur on 11th September 2021. To mark the importance of First Aid, morning assembly was conducted for class 6. The teachers briefed students about the importance of First Aid and First Aid Kit. On this day, the students were made aware about First Aid – how it can prevent injuries and save lives in a critical situation. The nurse of our school also demonstrated how to make a first aid kit for emergency during the online session. Students also understood that First Aid helps preserve and save life and plays an important role in preventing the situation from getting worse.

First physical PTM for grade pre- nursery –II, 11th September 2021

First Physical Parent Teacher Meeting for Grades – Pre Nursery to II was organised on 11th September 2021 at Delhi Public School, Mihan, Nagpur by taking proper Covid measures and following the safety guidelines of social distancing and mask. It was a treat to see and meet all the lovely children along with their parents. The quadrangle was beautifully decorated with beautiful props as Selfie corners. Every class was arranged with different educational games for the children to keep them productively engaged.

Hindi Diwas for grade III-VIII, 14th September 2021

A Virtual Special Assembly was conducted as a mark of acknowledgement of Hindi as the National Language. A wonderful thought was shared during the Special Assembly. Children recited beautiful poems, activities like “Anuchhed lekhan”, muhavara samvad by  class -7 which was indeed a delight to the eyes. Importance of Hindi language was conveyed through various thoughts, activities conducted and slogans. Children from classes 3 to 8 sang beautiful bhajans and dohas to mark the day. The teachers urged everyone to feel proud of our National Language Hindi. Language and culture of any country plays an important role in making people-to connect with the people & helps in making a strong nation. Thus, the celebration concluded with a positive note.

Special assembly on world democracy day for grade- VIII, 15th September 2021

The International Day of Democracy also known as World Democracy Day is observed every year on 15 September. To make the students aware about the best form of government and to make them realise about the Fundamental Right to vote, a special assembly was organised on International Day of Democracy. Teachers shared the PPT in the assembly of class 6 to 8.

World ozone day for grade III-V, 16th September 2021

September 16 is observed as “World Ozone Day” around the globe to increase understanding and awareness of Ozone depletion issues and find possible solutions to preserve it.  To mark this day, DPS Mihan, conducted a virtual Inter House Elocution Competition for classes III to V where in, the kids enthusiastically pitched in and delivered ideal performance.

Laddoo and modak making activity for grade I-II, 18th September 2021

Delhi Public School Mihan organized  Coconut Laddoos and Modak Making  Activity for the students of classes I  and II respectively on 18th September 2021(Saturday) on  virtual platform. Students made delicious laddoos and modak. The purpose behind this activity was to inculcate cultural and nutritional values in children. This activity helped them to develop their social skills. Indeed children enjoyed the delicacies with festive mood.

Maverick me activity for grade II, 18th September, 2021

DPS MIHAN organised “Maverick Me” activity for grade II students on virtual platform. The students learnt different ways of folding clothes as Subject Enrichment Activity in EVS class related to topic Clothes was taught so that they can set them systematically in their wardrobes at home and enhance their life skills.

A clean home is a happy home activity for preschool, 18th September 2021

Special Saturday – A clean home is a happy home. Teaching preschoolers about personal hygiene and cleanliness and getting them into a routine early will help them continue to take care of themselves as they get older. Folding Clothes is a wonderful Montessori exercise in building independence, confidence and fine motor skills. An interesting Napkin folding activity was conducted for the children from Grade – Pre Nursery to Preparatory on 18th September 2021.

Hats off to our helpers for grade pre- nursery, 20th September 2021

Hats off to our helpers was organized on 20th September,2021for the children of Grade -Pre Nursery. Children enacted as different community helpers to show their respect and gratitude for the people who make our living comfortable.   The theme helped children understanding what each community helper does and what tools they use in their daily job. The value of ‘Respect for all Helpers’ was inculcated in them by making them aware that all jobs are important and worthy of respect.

World rhino day for grade IV – V, 22nd September 2021

DPS MIHAN celebrated World Rhino Day on 22nd September. The importance of the day was delivered to students of class 4 and 5 through an informative presentation. The teacher discussed about the five species in the world. After the discussion, children enthusiastically participated in the online quiz through a Microsoft form. Let’s all join our hands to conserve the rhinos as they are said to be vulnerable to extinction.

Subject enrichment activity for grade-IV, 23rd September 2021

It was a treat to watch the creative work put up by the students of Class IV at DPS Mihan for one of their Subject Enrichment Activitiy in Environmental Studies. Young DPSites of class IV made a 3D model of Life cycle of a butterfly. They proved that creativity has no bounds. The topic was very creatively presented with some edible things like nuts and lentils. The kids also used some unused things at home to give their presentation a 3D look.

Volcanic eruption through experiential learning for pre-nursery, 24th September 2021

In order to reinforce the letter ‘V’ and make the children understand how volcano erupts, an amazing experiment was conducted on 24th September, 2021 during the online class for Grade – Pre Nursery (Joeys). The teacher demonstrated the experiment during the online class. Children also performed the experiment with great zeal and were very much excited to watch the eruption along with their parents. The volcano science experiment left the kids in awe as the homemade volcano erupted. This helped the children enhance the scientific temperament in the children. We at DPS Mihan ensure that learning also happens through experiential learning.

First parent teacher meet for grade III-V, 25th September 2021

First Physical Parent Teacher Meeting for Grade – 3 to 5 at DPS Mihan with an objective to share the feedback of the students and to lay the foundation of harmonious relationship with their parents, First Physical Parent Teacher Meeting for Grades – III to V was organised on 25thSeptember 2021 at Delhi Public School, Mihan, Nagpur. All necessary Covid-19 precautions were taken during the meeting. The main attraction of the PTM was the Art corner & Reading corner which was specially arranged for the children to keep productively engaged. Children loved to do stone painting and paper folding magical butterfly greeting cards. The young book lovers were glued to their seats to read their favourite books kept in the reading corner.

Special assembly on Antyodaya Diwas for grade IX, 25th September 2021

Antyodaya Diwas is observed every year on September 25th. This day was given its national importance when Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in 2014, dedicated to honour late Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya to mark his birth anniversary. A special assembly was organised by Delhi Public School, Mihan on this occasion for Grade IX students. The teacher introduced Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and shared his thoughts with the students. Later a video describing his life events and contributions to society was shown.

World environmental health day, for grade-VI-IX, 26th September 2021

World Environmental Health Day is observed every year on 26th September. DPS Mihan never leaves any stone unturned when it comes to sensitize students about Environmental Health. Students were briefed about the importance of this day with a PPT followed by a video that emphasized- I am Environmental Health. They understood that there is an integral connection between the environment, health and economy. It is therefore important to invest in healthy and green recovery.

World tourism day for grade pre- school, 28th September 2021

DPS, Mihan came up with an effective and creative way to give the little DPSites the experience of much recent addition to the beauty of Nagpur city i.e. The Zero Mile Freedom Park, Nagpur.  A virtual visit to Zero Mile Freedom Park was organised for Primary Classes on Tuesday (28.09.2021). This helped the enthusiastic learners know more about their own city. The onset of technology made it possible to make this virtual tour successful while sitting safely at home.

Special assembly on world heart day for grade – IX, 29th September 2021

World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th September every year to make people aware about the cardio-vascular disease which is the leading cause of deaths. DPS Mihan conducted special assembly in which an informative power point presentation was shared with the students. A poster making activity was organized for Class – IX on the topic – “Healthy Diet for Healthy Living” to enhance students’ knowledge and creative skills. “Yoga for healthy heart” – A wonderful yoga session was also organized at DPS Mihan by Mrs. Nisha Patodia, a Patanjali Yogapeeth certified Yoga teacher.

Special achievement, 06th September 2021

DPS Mihan takes great pride in sharing that our student Swanand Haridas from class V  has secured medal of Distinction in IMO and IEO examination at zonal level. Bhavik Chordiya and Aadi Sahoo of class VII and IX also bagged the Medal of Distinction in IGKO Examination at Zonal level conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). We also appreciate and applaud the efforts of the students who have achieved the medal of excellence in different examinations conducted by SOF. Join us in congratulating the smart DPSites and their proud parents and wish them all success in future endeavours!
