Maharaja Harisingh Agri Collegiate (MHAC) School, Jammu is a coeducational day cum residential school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school was started by a trust founded by late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji. The trustees handed over the management of the school to DAV College Managing Committee New Delhi in 1967.
The mission of the school is to provide understanding based and value oriented education in a stress free environment with focus on development of basic intelligence through critical thinking rather than on rote learning. The school also aims at comprehensive/holistic development of the children. The school follows the motto ‘Learn and Live’.
Spread over 350 acres of picturesque land, the school campus is dotted with tall, stately trees and lush green play grounds. There is also a canal flowing inside the campus and an agricultural farm.
The school houses a well stocked library, well equipped labs for chemistry, biology, physics and math, a fine arts lab, a home science lab and well equipped music-cum-dance room. The classrooms are equipped with smart class technology that uses digital resources such as graphics, animations, 3D images and video clips in addition to the traditional methods of teaching.
The sports facilities include three basket ball courts, three football grounds, two cricket grounds, one skating rink, two badminton courts and one table tennis room.
The school offers CBSE curriculum that is imparted with a blend of the latest technological aids and traditional teaching methods. Besides academics, the school encourages students to engage in a plethora of extracurricular activities such as music, theatre, performing arts, Indian and Western dance. The school also aims at honing the children’s skills in clay modeling, dollor toy making, needle work, card board models, paper cutting gardening, flower making, candle making, first-aid, electrical gadgets, commercial art, batik, knitting, tie and dye, robotics, rangoli makingand various art and craft activities.
